Privacy policy
Last updated: 11 October 2026
Hero Labs is part of Zero To Hero Academy, operated by Victor Dantas. This policy explains what data Hero Labs collects, why, and what your choices are. It covers the Hero Labs website (labs.fromzerotoheroes.com), the instructor console and the Hero Labs browser extension for Chrome and Microsoft Edge.
What we collect
- Attendee details: your first name, last name and email address when you join a session, and the event you joined.
- Lab progress: your answers to the checks in each lab, your scores, which steps you viewed and when, and the badges you earn.
- Instructor accounts: your name, email address and organisation, plus the labs, events, screenshots, videos and files you create or upload.
- Payments: instructor subscriptions are processed by Stripe. Stripe collects your payment details directly and we never receive your full card number. We keep only the subscription status and customer reference needed to give you access.
- Server logs: our host, Cloudflare, records technical data such as IP address, browser type and pages requested, for security and reliability.
Who can see your data
- The instructor running your event, and their organisation, can see your name, email address, progress, answers and results for that event.
- If your event shows a leaderboard, other attendees in the same event see your first name, the initial of your last name and your points.
- Badges are private until you choose to share one. A shared badge gets a public page showing your name, the badge and the lab or event it was earned in. You can stop sharing it at any time.
AI features
AI is used only when an instructor asks for it while writing a lab, for example to draft a lab from notes, screenshots or a recording. The material the instructor provides is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to produce the draft. Attendee details and lab progress are never sent to an AI provider.
The Hero Labs browser extension
The extension opens the Hero Labs website in your browser's side panel. It does not collect, store or send any data of its own, and it does not track your browsing.
It asks for two permissions: the side panel, so it can show Hero Labs there, and access to labs.fromzerotoheroes.com, so the panel can use your existing Hero Labs sign in. It cannot read or change any other website. Everything shown in the panel is the Hero Labs website, covered by the rest of this policy.
What we do not do
- We do not run advertising or analytics trackers.
- We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data.
- We do not store payment card details.
How we use your data
- To run your sessions: show your labs, save your progress, score your answers and issue your badges.
- To let instructors follow their attendees' progress and results.
- To create and manage instructor accounts and subscriptions.
- To keep Hero Labs secure and working correctly.
Cookies and browser storage
We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in, including cookies set by Clerk, our sign in provider. Browser storage remembers your preferences, such as light or dark mode, text size and layout. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
Third parties we rely on
- Cloudflare: hosting, database and file storage.
- Clerk: sign in for attendees and instructors.
- Stripe: payment and subscription processing.
- Anthropic: drafting lab content when an instructor uses the AI features.
- Video providers: labs may embed videos from YouTube (in its privacy enhanced mode), Vimeo, Loom or Microsoft Stream. When a step with an embedded video loads, that provider may set its own cookies and receive your IP address under its own privacy policy.
Data retention
Attendee records are kept while the organiser keeps the event, so instructors can review results and you can come back to your results and badges. Instructor account data is kept while the account is active. You can ask us to delete your data at any time. We remove it except where we are required to keep records, for example payment records for tax purposes.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete the personal data we hold about you, and to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, email us at the address below and we will respond within the period required by applicable law.
Children
Hero Labs is intended for working professionals and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page.
